History Edit

This CEC location's roots history goes back to a unknown time period, when it opened as a Kmart Foods. After Kmart discontinued the Kmart Foods chain, the store shut down, and later on in life reopened as a Xpect Discounts.

Xpect Discounts was a retail chain consisting of seven stores in western Connecticut operating from the 1980s-2016. Xpect Discounts was operated by Clevelander Marc Glassman, who previously founded Marc's, which has nearly 60 stores in Ohio.

Xpect began with seven stores; however, its Derby store closed in 2012, and in 2013, its North Haven store closed. Xpect began 2015 with four stores; however, its Danbury store closed on March 1. Xpect's other four stores were in East Haven, Cromwell, Hamden and Milford In February 2016 it was announced that the remaining four stores would close by April 1.

During a visit to Connecticut, ABS American annexe employee Tom Jackson discovered the vacant Xpect, and submitted it to ABS for conversion into a Chuck E. Cheese's.

The Kabushiki Gaisha ABS Southwest Annexe (located in Irving, Texas) was in the process of converting it to a Chuck E. Cheese's family entertainment center and restaurant.
